Elected representatives in government are in charge of the policy and funding that can make or break saving threatened species. Their decisions and actions matter.

Bean has or used to have 43 threatened animals within its boundaries. One of them is me, the Norfolk Island Green Parrot.

We took care to attach appropriate images that are as close to representative of each species as our resources and the availability of images allowed. However, we could not ensure perfect accuracy in every case. Some images show species that share the same genus but not at the species or subspecies level.

Cyanoramphus cookii has greater than 80% of its range within Bean

The Norfolk Island Green Parrot is bright green with a red forehead and forecrown, a red stripe across each eye, a dark blue region on the leading edge of each wing and a small patch of red on either side of the rump. The sexes are similar in appearance, but the female can be distinguished by her smaller size, smaller red forehead and forecrown patches, and a smaller, narrower bill. Juveniles are similar to the adults, but green colouring is duller and red colouring is less extensive.¹
