Elected representatives in government are in charge of the policy and funding that can make or break saving threatened species. Their decisions and actions matter.

Grey has or used to have 43 threatened animals within its boundaries. One of them is me, the Kowari.

We took care to attach appropriate images that are as close to representative of each species as our resources and the availability of images allowed. However, we could not ensure perfect accuracy in every case. Some images show species that share the same genus but not at the species or subspecies level.

Dasyuroides byrnei

Status: Vulnerable

Dasyuroides byrnei is found across 3 electorates.

The Kowari is a rat-size carnivorous marsupial. It is light grey-brown in colour and has a distinctive brush of black hair on the end of its tail. The limbs and the top half of the tail are white and they have a distinct white ring around each eye. It has large eyes, a pointed head and thin, sparsely-haired ears. Its ears and tip of the nose have a pink hue. This species grows up to 18 cm in length, with a tail length of up to 14 cm.¹

Grey has or used to have 67 threatened plants found within its boundaries. Some of these might not be as photogenic as the Kowari but they're just as important.
